About Us

It is inestimable how far a single act of kindness can go. It is the general notion that people in the less developed communities and the less privileged do not want to work, go back to school, better themselves or be integrated into society. The reality is that most of them lack the requisite support system, and have been battered by society. In the right environment with mentors and spiritual support, we believe they blossom, and that is what JEGIL Foundation has set out to do. We reach out to them in their own environment; the Foundation has moved to the inner cities and deprived communities to inspire and encourage them and also meet their needs.

It is an attitudinal, legislative and spiritual issue; this needs the joint efforts of corporations, society and religious groups in partnership with government efforts. JEGIL Foundation was birthed out of the desire to create a growing and sustainable sphere of positive influence by actively engaging social ills.

Our Vision Statement

To achieve human security by continually seeking to identify the different human needs within our communities and develop creative ways to strategically and effectively meet them through result-oriented programs and initiatives. To become a model for delivering social reformation in order to achieve individual and community transformation. And also to build a future where possibilities, opportunities and dreams are same for the children, youth, aged, and the entire community.

Our Mission Statement

JEGIL Foundation is to reach out, give hope, inspire, rehabilitate, educate and empower impoverished persons in Africa and the whole word through community-based programs and initiatives in order to achieve individual and community transformation. To establish and enforce prudential standards and practices designed to ensure that, under all reasonable circumstances attain to the responsibilities of children and school dropout, physically challenged, homeless, and the sick. To build power and capacity of the low income and low esteem people of color and to change the community and public for betterment.

Our Principles

Values

We value - in ourselves and in every individual, organization and community we support - the core principles of equality, empowerment, diversity, collaboration, and integrity.

Equality

We believe that equality is a universal human right, and we uphold respect and dignity as guiding principles in all our work.

Diversity

We value the strength and wisdom that come from all voices and embrace the complexities of individuals and communities.

Collaboration

We affirm the transformative power of collective efforts and the importance of having children and women and the less privileged engaged in issues that affect their lives.

Empowerment

We believe in the right of individuals to make choices and have control over their minds, bodies and spirits.

Intergrity

We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards and level of accountability.

Model

We find and invest in grassroots organizations that enable the most vulnerable children, women and the less privileged in their communities to thrive. Our strategic support helps our grantees achieve their vision, become sustainable, and reach even more children, women and the less privileged in need.

JEGIL Foundation model can be summarized in three steps: Scout, Support, Strengthen.

Our program officers are regional experts who put their feet on the ground, seeking out organizations and countries that serve the most marginalized children, women and the less privileged in the world. We look for true grassroots groups; local leadership, community and youth involvement, creativity, and sustainability. A tried-and-true method for assessing a grantee: walk through the neighborhood with the director and see how many people know him or her by name.

We believe that money alone is not enough for lasting change; you need strong leadership and healthy organizational development. We support our partners and beneficiaries through management assistance, capacity building, networking opportunities, and additional strengthening services.

We connect need, money and solutions

Need

We evaluate the needs of children and women, less privilege who are living at the margins of success in our society.

Money

We seek out and bring together children and women, less privilege who have the power to make a difference and organizations and countries that offer proven or innovative solutions.

Solutions

We raise money to fund those solutions, and we develop children and women, less privilege capacity to drive change at every level, both within those organizations and countries and beyond them.
